Thrifting in June: Things that start with the letter S part 3

Taking up even less space than a Summer dresses, scarves are another sans-guilt thrifting pleasure of mine. Heck, if I run out of room in my suitcase..... I could always stuff my bra with them, or something..... Not to mention, I feel like I totally scored this month with one fine piece. Mounds of items crammed in a bin may seem a bit overwhelming, but it does pay to rummage through them!

Part 3: Scarves and SCORE!

The top number is butter soft silk with hand painted tulips. I just loved the floral pattern on the second, sadly it had no indication who/what/where it came from. It's a pity since I'd most likely be on Ebay right now trying to hunt down similar ones.

(update: I noticed finally that the second scarf has the Avon logo hidden amongst the flora. Who would have thought it?)

Score? SCORE? I adored the colors and the pattern long before I noticed it was a Hermès. Ever since I was a kid I've held some sort of fascination with the various State seals. The design commemorates the United States bicentennial back in 1976. This lovely number was purchased for a mere 1,50€.

Thrifting in June: Things that start with the letter S part 2

Summer dresses are one of the few things that I do not feel any amount of guilt while thrifting this month. The cotton delights take up much less space than let's say shoes or a sweater and while they are very comfortable during the warmer months, I can always layer one during the colder months if I need a bit of color pick-me-up.

Thrifting in June: Things that start with the letter S part 1

It's June. The weather may be spastic, but seeing as that I am now officially out of school, I have quite a bit of free time on my hands. So admittedly, I've spent more time milling around various thrifts this month than partaking in any more productive activities.

Not that thrifting is anti-productive.... The rational part of me just thinks that with the big continental move approaching, the last thing I need is more stuff.

For example.... In late May my boyfriend, who paid me a graduation visit, was a kind enough fellow to not only bring an empty suitcase with him but also packed lightly in his other suitcase, in order to assist in getting some of my belongings back to the States. I opted to cram the suitcases full with seasonal gear and a good portion of my overflowing shoe collection (in my room, shoes were literally spewing forth from the various nooks I had them crammed into). For less than 24-hours after I had a manageable amount of shoes, then I went thrifting.......

and now we get to the first installment of:
Thrifting in June: Things that begin with the letter S

Part 1: Shoes

Of course I did not get these all at once. I've been picking up pairs here and there over the past few weeks. At first I told myself that for every 'new' pair I got, I'd get rid of an old pair.

Now it's more like for every TWO 'new' pairs I get, I will get rid of an old pair.....

With the vast number of shoes I'm always forced to pass on since the shoes always seem to be around a 7 or 8 and I am gifted with size 10 (41) feet, it is always a thrill when I do find shoes in my size!

Greetings and salutations....

Good day kind folks of the intraweb,

Like many girls, I like clothes and pretty things.

Like many persons of my age-bracket, I enjoy thrifting, diy, and things of days-gone-by. I grew up attached to a computing device, playing fantasy games, reading books, and watching Japanese animation, so I've also been known to dabble in a bit of geekery.

Like a small percentage of the world, I have recently obtained a degree in Interior Design and will be pursing a career as that and my true love, product design.

This is a blog less about me and more about my interests, obsessions, and opinionated rants littered with my deranged reasoning. Which all have a tendency to take on a life of their own.......
